My mother always said that everything tasted better the day after Thanksgiving. I'm betting that that sentiment was true in the Leite household on more that one Thanksgiving occasion.
David, a lot of people are thinking of moving abroad. Portugal comes up as a desirable destination for expats. What do you think? Concerns: over tourism and language. Speak Spanish but totally different from Portuguese
Nellis, over the last eight or 10 years we've been thinking about moving to Portugal. It's a great place. The food is fantastic, the people are very friendly, and that's a very different way of life.
There are a lot of expats there. It's no longer the bargain that it once was, though. It's become very expensive. We were looking at a house in Meco, which was around $350,000. Now it's over $1 million.
There's a lot of tourism, but less than most places in Europe. And the language isn't terribly hard to learn. If you know Spanish your 3/4 of the way there.
I would avoid places like the Algarve, which is loaded with tourists.
having hosted for nearly 20 years, I so relate. This year, we've moved - and are waiting for our house renovations to be done. And I made RESERVATIONS.
Lucky you, Susie. The One had open-heart surgery a few weeks ago (and then developed pneumonia), but we're still going to have a small Thanksgiving. We found out we can't have guests (he's still susceptible to infection). Still, I'm making all his favorites!
As always, an absolute joy from beginning to end. Good luck to both of you this year. 👨🍳
Danke, Erin. And thank you!

Oh, yes, that’s true. I prefer Thanksgiving Friday. No stress and all that great food that has only gotten better.

Thank you, David! First time I belly laughed in days! Thank to both of you! I have my smile back on.!!!
Oh, my! You are more than welcome. We all need a laugh right about now.
Thanks for the laughs, David. I really needed that at the end of a dreadful week.
June, I’m glad I could lighten thing up, even for a little bit. xox

Sending healing energy to The One. 🥰
Thank you, June!!!
This was both hilarious and true to life. It's a miracle that my husband and I are still married after 20 years of hosting holiday meals!
It is amazing, right? Oh, the fights we've had!
